Name what needs to change
Separate a service issue from a new requirement. You may need better communication, different product handling, or support for another channel. Turn that need into a question each candidate must answer.
Plan around your constraints
Share launch dates, stock availability, and customer commitments when discussing a transition. Ask whether a staged move is practical. Confirm the new setup with test orders before assuming the proposed timeline will work.
Write a controlled handover plan
List the stock count, shipment preparation, receiving confirmation, system tests, and order-routing changes needed for the move. Give each step an owner and an acceptance condition. Identify the decisions that depend on the outgoing provider, the incoming provider, and your own team. Keep the target date separate from the date everyone has confirmed. Review your actual commitments with the appropriate advisers before relying on a transfer assumption.
Use the result to choose the next conversation
Separate the requirement you need today from a possible future need. Use the directory to identify plausible candidates, then ask them to confirm the detail that matters for your products and channels. A shortlist is useful when it reduces the number of open questions as well as the number of providers. Bring the remaining questions into the next discussion.
Use this question in your next meeting:
What must be confirmed before the next handoff can safely happen?
